VANCOUVER, BC – January 14, 2016 – Canadian television network OUTtv announced today that they have picked up a third season of the groundbreaking drama “Sex and Violence”.
The show will return as a three-part miniseries, with Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis confirmed to star as victims’ advocate Alex Mandalakis. Production is in talks with Canadian Screen Award and ACTRA Award nominated stars of the series including Jackie Torrens, Jennie Raymond and Pasha Ebrahimi to reprise their roles as well.
The series will continue to follow the efforts of the social workers, doctors, police and lawyers who help victims of violence and abuse. The critically acclaimed first season was nominated for five CSAs and was the highest-performing original drama on OUTtv in 2015.
Sex & Violence follows the lives of Constable Maria Roach (Raymond) and social worker Drucie MacKay (Torrens) as they explore the complex world of domestic violence victims along with Dukakis’s Alex Mandalakis, the fearless and aggressive victim’s advocate. Producer Doug Pettigrew will continue his role and Thom Fitzgerald will return to writing and directing duties.
“Sex and Violence is OUTtv’s most successful original drama ever,” says OUTtv COO Brad Danks. “Thom and Doug just keeping raising the bar on the quality of this show – we can’t wait for Season 3.”
OUTtv will exclusively premiere the series in 2017.
