VANCOUVER, BC – 14 FEBRUARY 2017 – OUTtv, Canada’s national LGBTQ television network, has licensed exclusive first window Canadian broadcast rights from BBC Worldwide North America for The Collection, an eight-episode drama series set in the world of haute couture. The series, written and created by award-winning showrunner Oliver Goldstick (Pretty Little Liars, Ugly Betty,) features Tom Riley (Da Vinci’s Demons, Kill Your Friends), Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife, Ricki and the Flash), Richard Coyle (Crossbones, Life of Crime) and Alix Poisson (Disparue, 3xManon, Parents mode d’emploi).
The series is now available exclusively in Canada on OUTtv’s streaming service, OUTtvGo, with a Spring 2017 broadcast premiere on OUTtv.
“We are very excited to bring The Collection to Canada,” said Brad Danks, CEO OUTtv. “The Collection is an original, stylish series that will resonate with Canadian audiences.”
“OUTtv has proven, both with their channel and now their new service, OUTtvGO, to be a great partner to work with. We know they have a strong reach in the market, and this incredible series is sure to captivate their audience,” states Michael L Smith, SVP Content Sales & Co-Productions, BBC Worldwide North America.
With an impressive cast that also includes Frances de la Tour (The Lady in the Van, Vicious, Into the Woods, Hugo), Jenna Thiam (The Returned) and Irène Jacob (The Affair, La Habitación, Three Colours Red), The Collection tells the story of an illustrious Paris fashion house emerging from the dark days of the occupation. The gripping saga exposes the grit behind the glamour and the treachery beneath the trappings of The House of Sabine, a fashion empire spearheaded by two clashing brothers: the charming and ruthless Paul (Coyle) who controls the business and his gay younger brother Claude (Riley) whose creative vision is ushering in a new era in haute couture.
The Collection is a Lookout Point and Artis Pictures Production co-produced with Amazon Studios, Federation Entertainment, MFP, with the participation of France Télévisions and BBC Worldwide.
The license agreement was brokered by Brad Horvath and Christine Whalen of BBC Worldwide North America and Brad Danks of OUTtv.
