Program Summaries
Outland
Outland is an Australian comedy series about a gay science fiction fan club and the lives, loves and never-ending dramas of its five members as they struggle and battle to assimilate with the troubling and very real world around them. Will science fiction save them all?
The Collection
The Collection, written and created by Oliver Goldstick (Little Liars, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty), tells the story an illustrious Paris fashion house emerging from the dark days of the occupation. The gripping saga exposes the grit behind the glamour and the treachery beneath the trappings of The House of Sabine, a fashion empire spearheaded by two clashing brothers: the charming and ruthless Paul (Richard Coyle, Crossbones, Life of Crime) who controls the business and his gay, younger brother Claude (Tom Riley, Da Vinci’s Demons, Kill Your Friends), whose creative vision is ushering in a new era in haute couture.
Carlotta
Based on the extraordinary life of the iconic Les Girls headliner and Australian transgender pioneer, Jessica Marais (Magic City, Packed to the Rafters), stars as Carlotta. A universal story about identity, family, tolerance and acceptance, Carlotta lays bare the life of the confused teenager named Richard and his flight into the turbulence of the hedonistic sixties and seventies. Against the threat of criminal prosecution as well as social rejection, Carlotta emerges as the all-conquering drag queen and performer. Spanning forty years, Carlotta is an uplifting celebration of finding your place in the world and making your mark against all odds
Seed Money
Seed Money is the story of Chuck Holmes, a San Francisco pornographer turned philanthropist. Holmes helped create and shape gay identity in the years after Stonewall and later became a major contributor to gay advocacy groups like the Human Rights Campaign and the LGBT Victory Fund, only to find later in life that while his money was welcome in philanthropic circles, he sometimes wasn’t.
Embrace of the Vampire
Charlotte is a timid and sheltered teen who has just left an all-girls Catholic school for a new life at a co-ed university. But an ancient evil has followed her here, tormenting her with disturbing nightmares and tempting her with forbidden desires. It is a hunger that can only be satiated by sensual desires of the flesh and a thirst for blood. It’s a battle for her souls and one she’s losing. But Charlotte is a fighter. The chaos and torment threatens to unleash her own inner beast and anyone even close to her may find themselves embracing their own horrific fate.
