OUTtv Commissions Five New Shows

New commissions include Group Sext, Camboy, Cannonball and The Browns and a third
season of Knock Knock Ghost
OUTtv, Canada’s only and the world’s first LGBTQ+ television network has commissioned five new shows including a pilot for Group Sext from GoButton, Cam Boy from Emotion Pictures Inc., Cannonball from Kiss Off Entertainment and Corner Piece Creative, The Browns from Producers Entertainment Group and the renewal of a third season of Knock Knock Ghost from Sonic Nursery Group.
“During a time where a vast number of productions are experiencing a standstill in filming, we are delighted to commission five new shows to OUTtv, including a pilot for Group Sext, a show filmed within the confines of lockdown through Zoom,” said Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv Network. “As more people are staying home, we are noticing a demand for new content and are thrilled to be able to add these news shows to our programming roster.”
Group Sext (Pilot) is a reality show produced by GoButton Media and hosted by drag queen, Crystal (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK). One Masterdater is given a shot at finding love or at least a sexting buddy. While assessing flirty, steamy and memorable texts, videos and picture messages, the master dater will whittle the 10 sexters down to one for a video call. It’s down to the sexter if they want to accept the call or decline.. A one-of-its-kind, the entire show was cast, shot and edited during lockdown through a combination of multi-level video conferencing, self-shooting and lots of sext messaging. No members of the cast or crew were ever in the same physical place for any of the production. Crystal hosted from the UK, the cast joined in from across Canada and the US, the production staff was in lockdown all over Ontario and even the editing happened across three different provinces.
Cam Boy (8 x 30’) is a scripted series from Emotion Pictures and created by Thom Fitzgerald (Sex and Violence, Forgive Me, The Hanging Garden). When Aston finds himself left to his own devices with bills to pay while his boyfriend is in New York he turns to camming to make ends meet.
Cannonball (6 x 10 Digital Series) a comedy series produced by Kiss Off Entertainment and Corner Piece Creative that follows private investigators Katie Ball and Tig Ohanian as they take on wild and wacky cases, wreaking havoc wherever they go.
The Browns (3 x 30’) is a comedy series created and directed by John Mark, produced by Producers Entertainment Group and featuring RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Tammie Brown. The show focuses on the Brown family, an upper middle-class American family, living in Los Angeles. Tammie Brown, a semi-retired singer, mother and passionate homemaker lives with her teenage son, Billy, her obnoxious sister Ethel and ailing father Roy. Although a comedy at heart, the show tackles serious subjects with a dark humour and in the subtext, celebrates a queering of the American sitcom genre.
Knock Knock Ghost (6 x 60’) produced by Sonic Nursery Group returns to OUTtv for a third season. Richard Ryder and tech guru Brie Doyle welcome A-list Psychic Kevin Whitaker to the team to help connect with those beyond the grave. The team take to the roads to find the funniest haunted locations in Canada. As always, it’s nothing but laughs (and the occasional scream) every step of the way.
In 2020 OUTtv have commissioned over 25 new productions with over 50 new commissions from Canada, New Zealand, Australia, the UK and the United States since January 2019.
