Network Also Renews Mom vs Matchmaker, Never Apart and Popporn

VANCOUVER, BC – AUGUST 30, 2018 – OUTtv, the world’s first LGBTQ+ television network has commissioned three new series, FAK YAASS from Bulldog Productions, Drag Heals from Border2Border Entertainment and Dr. Barry from Arcadia Content.  The network has also ordered a fourth season of Mom vs Matchmaker from Go Button Media and second seasons of Never Apart from Never Apart TV and Popporn from Border2Border Entertainment.

“We are delighted to announce these new series and new seasons of popular OUTtv programming,” said Brad Danks, CEO OUTtv Network. We are proud of the success of our productions and we are thrilled to add more original productions and to announce these renewals.”

FAK YAASS is a ten-episode digital series that tells the story of Nico Nicolakis’ big Greek family and their journey of accepting Nico no matter his sexuality. Showing the clash between old European views and the new millennial age, Nico struggles with the idea of returning home, somewhere he’s always felt judged and unworthy.  With the help of his friends, Anton and Torri, we’ll watch as Nico’s heart begins to let his family in and we’ll see his family accept him for who he is, until a secret family scheme may ruin that forever. FAK YAASS is based on true events of the creator, Vasilios Filippakis’ life and written by Anthony Filangeri and directed by Matthew McLaughlin.  Les Tomlin serves as Executive Producer on the series, with Matthew McLaughlin as producer and Vasilios Filippakis and Leanne Noelle Smith co-producing. FAK YASS will premiere on OUTtvGo Spring 2019 and will subsequently air on OUTtv as a two-part mini-series.

Drag Heals (5 x 30’) is a documentary series from Border2Border Entertainment, that follows men who have never worn heels or make-up but have always dreamed of letting their inner drag queen out!  These men, and aspiring queens, enter Canada’s first ever drag class to explore how to create a compelling drag persona based on personal experience.  Deeply persona and raw, these queens tackle prickly issues like gender identity, mental illness, heartbreak and feminism to better understand themselves and their queer experience in an otherwise straight world.  Directed by Charlie David and Nico Stagias, Drag Heals is produced by Charlie David with Philip Webb and Brad Danks as Executive Producers and will premiere Fall 2018.

Dr. Barry (6 x 30’) is a docu—series from Arcadia Content that follows out veterinarian Dr. Barry MacEachern.  When a big-hearted vet decides it’s time to open his own clinic he works hard for his wonderful staff, caring clients and pawed patients, but he’s challenged by running a small business, unusual animal adventures and medical mysteries. Dr. Barry is produced by David Perlmutter and will air Spring 2019.

“I’ve been a vet for over 20 years.  I’ve helped everything from a monkey to a moose,” said Dr. Barry. “What I like best is helping people with the animals they love.  Our new series will help people understand the animals in their lives.”

Mom vs Matchmaker (10 x 30’) is a dating format, created by Natasha Ryan, that pits moms against matchmaking professional Carmelia Ray in the challenge for finding the perfect match for millennials, with the help of love assistant Patrick Orr.

“Go Button Media is fired up to produce the new season of its franchise show, Mom vs Matchmaker, with our extraordinary partners at OUTtv,” said Natasha Ryan, Executive Producer. “We’re thrilled to continuing this strong, sexy, silly and sassy original format, currently in more than 70 countries, into a bold fourth season.”

Never Apart (6 x 30’) is an arts and culture news program giving a much-needed voice to queer artists, produced by Dax Dasilva and Michael Venus of Never Apart TV.  Each episode features artist visits, profiles and interviews where we get to hear their unique stories and learn about the work.

Popporn (10 x 30’), directed and produced by Charlie David, is a comedic series where comedians roast gay porn scenes.  What’s weird, strange, gross, hilarious, surprising or even enticing?  Nothing escapes their comedic wrath!
